From the Referee Administrator
Coaches,
I would like to introduce myself, I'm Kevin Scherer, the referee assignor for this club.
The scheduling of your games at will involve both the field and the referee assignors. League games are scheduled with the clubs and field assignors by CUSL. For pre/post play league games, I will take your reschedule request and work with the field assignors on your behalf. In either case (regular schedule or pre/post play), I will assign the referees to your games. Our past experience has shown that we need 4 days (on average) notice for a pre/post play game. Below is the help you can provide and the rescheduling process:
- You should come up with a couple options on dates/times for the game.
- Work with your opponent to agree on possible dates/times for the game.
- Contact me with the options.
- I will find a field for the game (options help).
- I'll assign the referees for your game (again, options help).
- I'll let you know if the game is rescheduled or we need more options.
- Darkness will make it difficult to get games in during the week.
- A high number of referees officiate or play in High School games.
Please keep these things in mind as you try to schedule pre/post play games. We have found that Friday nights and Saturdays (games starting at or before 1:00pm) work the best. Please do what you can to schedule games on these days.
For reschedules or other game setup, please send the following information to the following email: KJSCHERER@AOL.COM:
- Home Team Number
- Age group
- CUSL division (coach or team name are ok as additional information): EX: G9708 U14 SECOND
- Visiting Team Number or team name: EX: G9715 or Cincinnati West Firehawks
- Original game information (game number, date, time, field): EX: 1045 Sun Apr 11 @ 4:30 pm 96-11
- Requested game information (date and time – multiple ones if possible): EX: Tuesday April 13th after 6:15 prefer MW
Remember,
1) Follow CUSL rules on what situations allow you to post-play a game
2) Follow CUSL rules on home many days you have to reschedule a cancelled game and how many days to play the game
3) Please try to provide at least 5 days advance notice for all reschedules or new game requests. The more time you can provide the better for everyone involved.
4) Games cancelled by the coach or opponent within 3 days of the playing date could result in the home team being charged referee fees
a. Make sure the reason for the cancellation is within the CUSL rules to avoid issues with the league that could result in a double forfeit
5) Coaches cannot cancel games due to weather conditions – they must play unless the park or location is closed
6) Do not play a game (U10 thru U19) without 3 referees (it is ok to have a licensed center and 2 club linemen).
7) Do not play a game U8 or U9 with an un-licensed center referee
8) Remember that the home team is REQUIRED to ensure corner flags are available for their league games.
Finally, please let me know if you have any concerns, issues, or praise for the referees or field conditions in your game.
Thanks,
Kevin Scherer
