The Westside Juggling Club
The Westside Juggling Club is a program to promote ball mastery and confidence for players of all ages. Juggling is one of the best ways to get comfortable with the ball with all surfaces of the body. Touch, how hard and how fast you play a ball, is also a very important skill that juggling teaches through repetition. It also is a great way to gain core strength and balance. Juggling also helps player gain confidence through achievement. Players learn that with time and dedication they can learn to do things that seemed impossible to do when they first started.
Juggling Club members shall be recognized by receiving special soccer ball patches, which should be ironed on to their uniform shorts. Different levels of accomplishment will earn players patches of different colors. The patches should be ironed on the front right leg of the player’s uniform shorts. (If you are looking at the shorts, it’s the left leg). As the player advances, they will earn more patches. Please iron patches in a row from left to right (when you are looking at the shorts).
Coaches will need to email their player’s achievements to Holly, who will then post them on the website. Recognition patches will be distributed to coaches at the monthly coaches (general) meetings. Coaches can then distribute the patches to their players.
The main guidelines are NO HANDS and NO BOUNCES. To qualify for an award, players must demonstrate their abilities at a practice or game to their coach or trainer. Except for the first level (10 juggles), players must get the ball off of the ground with their feet to qualify for an award.
